IDRC Paid Internship Awards

The IDRC Internship awards (15 in total for 2011) provide exposure to research for international development under the guidance of IDRC program staff. The intern will undertake his/her own research, and will also gain hands-on experience in research management techniques.

Each Program under Agriculture and Environment will host one intern:

Ecosystems and Human Health (Ecohealth)
Ecohealth continues to build the field of ecohealth with new knowledge on environmental change, emerging and re-emerging diseases, and on healthier communities in agricultural ecosystems.

Agriculture and Food Security (AFS)
The goal of AFS is to support research that generates opportunities for more equitable and productive agriculture to improve the food and income security of poor women and men in developing countries.

Climate Change and Water (CCW)
CCW is a new five-year initiative that aims to support research that reduces vulnerability to water-related impacts of climate change.

 

Climate Change Adaptation in Africa (CCAA)

The purpose of the CCAA research and capacity development program is to significantly improve the capacity of African countries to adapt to climate change in ways that benefit the most vulnerable.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

a)   Applicants must be either Canadian citizens, have permanent resident status in Canada or be citizens of a developing country;

b)   Applicants must be either currently registered in or have completed a graduate degree. The internship may be part of an academic requirement.

c)   The applicant’s proposed research must focus on a developing country.

 

Internships are on a full-time basis, for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months, commencing in January 2011 and completing in December 2011.
