Our Food, Health & Sustainability Program is aimed at ensuring that developing communities can produce, market, and consume their food in a sustainable, equitable and safe manner. This program area also seeks to tackle emerging diseases by addressing the systemic causes and working with communities to develop locally-defined prevention, detection and control strategies. Many of our projects are helping communities, whether affected by HIV/AIDS, or by other infectious diseases or economic turmoil, to build sustainable livelihoods through improved livestock production. Additionally, we facilitate regional networks in developing countries for sharing expertise and resources among animal health workers. For example, the Community of Practice in Ecosystem Approaches to Health in South and Southeast Asia is promoting the application of ecohealth and is linking partners and their projects across the region.
